Caring for your hiking boots

Hiking and mountaineering boots are put to the test: mud, water, dust, rocks, and temperature variations. With proper care, your boots will remain comfortable, water-repellent, and reliable for longer—whether for a short outing or a mountain trek.

The right product for the material

Each shoe has its own needs. Leather, nubuck, suede, and membrane shoes require specific cleaning and protection. We are happy to advise you on choosing the right product based on the material and your intended use.

Cleanse, nourish and protect

Proper shoe care begins with cleaning. Next, you can condition the leather or nubuck with a suitable wax or treatment, and then protect your shoes with a waterproofing product. This helps maintain the water-repellent effect, improves drying, and limits drying out or cracking.

Laces and small parts

Worn shoelaces are a common cause of discomfort on the trails. That's why we offer shoelaces in various lengths, thicknesses, and types, suitable for hiking and mountaineering boots. You'll also find a variety of useful small accessories here.

Insoles: comfort and support

Good insoles make a real difference on long runs. We offer several types of insoles and podiatric devices: from comfortable, universal models to more supportive options for greater stability and less fatigue.

5 simple maintenance tips

1) Allow to dry naturally at room temperature, with the tongue open and insoles removed. Avoid radiators and heaters to prevent drying out the materials and adhesives.

2) Clean before applying any product. Brush off sand and mud, and use a cleaner if necessary. Wax and waterproofing work best on a clean surface.

3) Use the right product for the right material. Choose a product suitable for leather, nubuck/suede, or membrane shoes. This helps maintain flexibility and water repellency.

4) Check laces and hooks. Worn laces or damaged eyelets/hooks can cause problems. Replace laces promptly and regularly check small parts.

5) Remove the insoles after use, especially after a wet outing: let them dry separately. This limits moisture and prolongs the life of the shoes.
